What is the capacity of the theatre?
In the seated lay-out, the auditorium holds 252 people. For some performances, seats are taken out to create standing room in front of the stage. In this lay-out, the capacity is 380.

Does Arlington Arts have a car park?
There is a car park immediately opposite and adjacent to the centre. You can also park in Mary Hare’s School car park which is located on the same campus. All parking is free of charge.

What are the centre’s opening hours?
Standard Box Office opening hours are Monday – Friday from 10am until 4.30pm. On performance days, the Box Office is open until 8.30pm. For corporate events, the opening hours remain flexible for the duration of the event.  

Does Arlington Arts have a bar?
Arlington Arts has a bar which is open 1 hour prior to each performance.

Can I pre-order interval drinks?
Interval drinks can be pre-ordered at the bar, and will be ready for collection during the interval.

Is there a cloakroom facility?
We offer a cloakroom facility free of charge. Please note that items are left at the owners risk.

Can I withdraw cash from anywhere nearby?
Unfortunately there isn’t an ATM on site and we are unable to offer cashback. However, you can pay by card for tickets at the boxoffice and for bar transactions over £20 (for which you can start a tab).

Where do I pick my tickets up from?
If you have booked tickets and chosen to collect them from the centre, they will be held at the box office and filed under the surname of the person who booked them. You may be asked a security question such as ‘What is the first line of your address?’ to ensure you are given the correct tickets. The Box Office is located immediately in front of the main entrance to the building.

Do I have to pay to have my tickets posted to me?
We charge a £1 fee if you would like your tickets posted out in advance. This covers the cost of the postage and the envelope.

Is there a fee for paying on a credit card?
There is no additional fee for using a credit card to pay for your tickets.

Who is eligible for discounted tickets?
Those eligible for discounted tickets are children under 16, full time students, senior citizens, those who are registered disabled and those who are unwaged or in receipt of benefits

Are there any age restrictions?
Although there are not strict age restrictions like in cinema, we do occasionally recommend a minimum age if a show contains strong language or is deemed inappropriate for children or young people. For the majority of shows, however, there are no minimum age restrictions.  

Can I get a refund on my ticket if I am unable to attend?
Unfortunately we are unable to grant refunds for purchased tickets. Subject to availability, if there is more than one performance of the event you have booked for, we may be able to swap you tickets for another night.

How long can I reserve tickets for?
This is dependent on the circumstances and how far in advance of the show they are reserved. If a show has sold out and we require final payment we will always contact you first. However, if this is unsuccessful, we reserve the right to cancel reserved tickets without notification.

Is there access to free WiFi?
There is free WiFi available to our conference delegates and theatre visitors alike. Please ask at the Box Office for the password.

Am I allowed to take photographs of a performance?
Photography and video recording is strictly prohibited unless otherwise announced.

Is there a dress code?
There is no dress code.

How long before a performance should I arrive?
We advise that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to each performance. However, if you wish to arrive earlier, the venue stays open and the bar will be open 1 hour before show time.

Do you sell gift vouchers?
We sell gift vouchers in any denominations you require.

Where can I get a pre-theatre meal?
There are two pubs in close proximity to the Arts Centre. The Fox & Hounds is at the end of the main driveway on the Oxford Road and, further down into Donnington is the Castle pub. There are numerous restaurants serving a variety of cuisines in Newbury town centre, a short drive away from the venue.

Is there any local accommodation?
If you’re visiting from out of town and want to stay overnight, there are lots of places to stay to suit different tastes and budgets. Here is a small selection:

Donnington Valley Hotel and Spa is a privately owned, 4 star plus, country retreat that is situated in the very heart of the Berkshire countryside.


Hilton Newbury Centre Hotel is a modern hotel and has a gym, health club and a restaurant.


The Pheasant Inn pub and restaurant has a friendly atmosphere and 11 newly built bedrooms (all with en-suite bath or shower).


There is also a Travelodge a couple of minutes down the road if it is convenience you require.

Are there any other local attractions?
Other local attractions include Newbury Racecourse, Donnington Castle, Highclere Castle, The Watermill and The Corn Exchange.
